Ingredients

  • 2–3 chopped sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups chopped beets
  • 1 pound ground turkey, browned in skillet
  • 2 cups diced carrots
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 5 cups chicken or bone broth
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoon chili powder
  • Dash of red pepper flakes
  • Dash of cayenne

Instructions

First, cook the chopped sweet potatoes and beets in the oven for about 45 minutes to soften them. Then prepare the meat by browning it in a skillet.

Add all of the other ingredients to a large pot and stir until warm (feel free to add more or less of the spices to suit your taste).

Then add the cooked potatoes, beets and meat. Cook covered for 45 minutes to an hour on medium or until all contents are soft and sauce has thickened. Add more broth, water and spices as desired. Optional: Serve with a Paleo-friendly bread (usually made with almond flour, or use a Simple Mills bread mix.)
